Leading on from the Sea Trout thread. When are the best times to visit. What access does a visiting angler have and other than fishing what else is there to do in the area?

This is the river i live on:), I start fishing in April though to October,

And you will catch fish, in all months. best months would be May to September,

But would pick out, June / July and August being the best three months.

Any more you need to know, just ask.

Dai.

Hi Dai,

Well I'm going over to the Towy for the 1st time in July with Yellow Peril and am really looking forward to it. 2 Yellow Bellies with 3 Rebels together, should be good crack and great banter.

What flies (patterns and sizes) do you recommend for the Towy so can get cracking on tying up a few? We'll be fishing the Golden Grove waters. I might even throw some business your way and get you to tie some up for me ;)

Just on a side issue, any good brown trout and grayling fishing close by that can be fished for during the day while waiting for the night-time sewin fishing.

Hi FA, That is great, it would be nice to meet up with you, when you come over.

Most patterns, are black. Black/silver, Teal blue silver, i do have a few of my own. which i use and have caught me some good fish.

Grayling, Can put you on to a good river, for the grayling. plus there is some good browns in the same river to best i have seen is 6lb08oz.

But there is also very good browns, to be had on the Towy.

One thing, about the Towy, the Sewin like a BIG fly.

Regards Dai.

Fair play to yas lads.
I went over for my 18th birthday- by myself.
Fished the river at Llandeilo. What an experience- had 2 five punders on the fly. Met a local expert called Gregory Jones one night on the river and got some fantastic advice. He was tellin me that in one of the pools that I'd seen a massive fish splash, he lost a fish around 18lb a week before.
You'll have a fantastic time.

Still finding my way around the forum and I noticed this section and that fish was caught by Ren a friend of mine.Fish was caught on the Golden Grove stretch of the Towy and he phoned me when he had it, on a Silver Stoat.

If anybody needs an update nearer the time then please get in touch.

Fish were seen in the close season"march"jumping.
