The Tay seems to be throwing up the big fish this year![]()

Paul there have been a few of that size caught already. Just last week there was a 25lb and 28lb fish caught on the Pitlochry beat of the Tummel by their members, with many around the 20+ mark caught as well.
So heres hoping that the big fish are returning in greater numbers than that of previous years!

Kenny,
Was its 4 or 5 years ago that the Tay had a season that noted a significant up turn in the Multi Sea Wintered fish returning. I remember the article in T&S lauding the surprise return of these big fish but unsure of the year. Could this be the off spring of that years run?

Could well be Paul. That year if my memory serves me right was 3 years ago, possibly 4. There was 30+ lbrs getting caught for fun in Murthly and Delvin beat areas in particular. So yep these could be the offspring of those multi at sea fish. If they are then it just goes to show that the genes of these big fish are very important to the river and another reason why they should be spared the cosh IMHO and not advocating catch and release across the board.
