Question Rig for single hook and pin ???

Can anyone advise on how to rig a pin and single hook for shrimping. Anyone any links for diagrams or videos very much appreciated. Ive been using this method for several years but i think i am not using the pin and hook correctly. Problems with shrimp falling off, fish taking shrimp without hook etc..

from my experience usually u use a treble when using the pin but if ur having probs wit shrimp staying on use a tip from the sea angling scene and whip shrimp on with a fine elastic thread , myself i use just a single hook ,

agree with cod father the single hook is just as easy or even better less hassle and better hook ups rather than a small treble !!!!!!!!
A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at the office !

Give me a shout over sometime and you can have a look at the way I fish the shrimp Setantaman.
I only use the single hook method and it works well for me,
I use Purplewhiskers shrimp and he is on this forum and has the best shrimp you will get.
I find with the single hook it is always in the top of the mouth and work well for C & R.

Are the shrimp you are using breaking up and falling off?
If thats the case try getting the shrimp somewhere else. Try the shrimp recommended by Paddy K. here, they seem reliable.

Other than that use a size two hook and make sure it's sharp and clean. A blunt hook or one with even the slightest rough feel to it (from tip to eye!) will drag through the shrimp and tear it up when your putting it on the hook. Change you hooks regularly.

Some people use a pin to mount a second prawn of similar size, if i'm fishing a second prawn I use a smaller size one and mount it to the same hook, belly to belly. I've read on here that it will affect your hook up's but I've never had a problem.

Use two ssg shot about 10 inches above the prawn to make sure it gets down to where you want to fish fast and stays there.

    Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for the help and advice !!! I'll give you a shout later in the season paddyk to see your set-up. I've been using prepacked shrimp so maybe that could be a big problem.
